The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 is a United States legislation that provides data privacy and security provisions for safeguarding medical information.

HIPAA requires creation of national standards to protect sensitive patient data from being used or disclosed without patient’s consent and knowledge. In the current times, organizations do realize that data is one of the most valuable assets. Healthcare organizations in the US work on patient data called Protected Health Information (PHI). Improper handling of PHI puts them at risk of breach of compliance with HIPAA regulations. The law has emerged into greater prominence in recent years with many health data breaches caused by cyber attacks and ransomware attacks on health care organizations. Hence there is a larger need for the organizations to comply with HIPAA Compliance and that includes policies, procedures, risk assessments, training , defined protocols which can be deployed in case of a breach. Failure to have an up-to-date, ongoing HIPAA Compliance program can put an organization at risk of costly fines and reputational damage. The market credibility is lost when an organization ends up with non-compliance to HIPAA regulations.

Keeping this in mind, we at Scoleo create customized solutions that ensures organizations involved in the US healthcare industry comply with all the applicable legal HIPAA requirements for seamless functioning without any compliance hurdles.
